Dempsey Barracks - Competition Entry
03/2020-04/2020 - Paderborn (Germany)

The former military site comprises around 16 ha and will be transformed into an urban residential and business area.

I had the chance to contribute to the work of the team BAEK Architekten and STEFAN TISCHER Landscape Architect from Berlin.

Attractively situated between forest areas and existing residential neighborhoods, the new quarter stimulates urban life by creating an lively hub, right in the center. A Fab.Lab and Maker Space make use of former military buildings and contribute, together with the childcare center, to social interaction and a lively neighborhood. Public spaces are combined with green infrastructure, facilities for water management, and an innovative parking concept. The business area reflects changes of working environments and provides an attractive setting for new technologies and innovations. All in all we propose a flexible and resilient urban framework which roots in the history of the site.
